Domaine Roulot Meursault Vireuils 2023

$31499

From the limestone soils of Meursault's Vireuils lieu-dit, Domaine Roulot delivers white Burgundy of crystalline precision and mineral tension. The 2023 shows walnut and hazelnut notes with a subtle sea spray character, fermented with native yeasts for maximum terroir expression. Delicate in weight yet profound, with the acidity that defines great Meursault and begs for salty seafood or white fish. This is Roulot at its most elegant—a wine built to age gracefully for years to come.

Antonio Galloni

"The 2023 Meursault Les Vireuils comes from 80% of the parcel located toward the north on stony, shallow soils. This is fresh on the nose, with sea spray, flint and petrichor scents blossoming in the glass. The palate is well balanced with fine delineation and plenty of energy. It's citrus-driven with superb mineralité on the finish. It is excellent." —Neal Martin

"The 2023 Meursault Vireuils is showing very nicely, offering up notes of lime zest, white flowers, toasted nuts and wet stones, followed by a medium to full-bodied, satiny and seamless palate that's pure, suave and precise." —William Kelley

Jancis Robinson

"Tank sample. Mid lemon. Citrus, apple and white flowers. Medium-plus body with mouth-watering, crisp acidity."

More about Domaine Roulot

The name Roulot is now a synonym for the very best wine that the village of Meursault can offer. It is rather remarkable when you consider that just 2 generations back the Roulot's were known as producers of Burgundian brandy and eau de vie. But Guy Roulot began leveraging the family's distilling success to purchase small plots of vines in Meursault and by the 1970's was known as a pioneer for producing top quality chardonnay from distinct parcels or ""lieu-dits"".

When Guy passed away unexpectedly in the early '80's his son Jean-Marc was pursuing acting in Paris. In 1989 he returned to take on the reigns of the small Domaine and in the following decades built on his father's success so well that the wines are now extremely hard to acquire and to afford for most of us.
