Donnhoff Dellchen Riesling Grosses Gewachs 2024

$10999

Dönnhoff is, for our money, second to none for consistent pleasure and terroir expression — and at the Grosses Gewachs level you're getting the estate's top dry Rieslings. Dellchen is one of the Nahe's great steep-slope sites, a sun-trapping amphitheater of volcanic and slate soils that yields wines of real power and tension. This 2024 GG is bone-dry, mineral-laden and built to age, the kind of bottle meant to be cellared while it unwinds. Pure Nahe at the top of its game.

Antonio Galloni

"The 2024 Riesling Norheimer Dellchen Grosses Gewächs was made in tiny quantities this year. It is from a porphyry site with shale cover. Flint, herb and lemon aromas come together in a most enticing combination. The palate is taut, svelte and luminous. Stony and fine, elegance runs through it like sunlight, heightening the citric freshness imbued with peppery, zesty savor. The 2024 is so linear and bright yet completely ripe. Cornellius says that they picked just 1,500 kg per hectare." —Anne Krebiehl, MW

"The 2024 Dellchen GG Norheimer Riesling is deep and dense on the nose, with ripe, juicy fruit, good substance and fullness and fine tannins that are already apparent in the aroma. Juicy and full-bodied on the palate, this is a powerful and still somewhat loud and sharp Dellchen with potential to refine. Tasted at the Vorpremiere VDP.Grosses Gewächs in Wiesbaden, August 2025."

More about Donnhoff

If you love Riesling, you know the name Dönnhoff. If you don't love Riesling-- yet-- Dönnhoff will teach you why the grape inspires such passion.

Dönnhoff is the greatest estate in the Nahe and one of the best in all of Germany. The family has had four generations to dive deep into their terroir and perfect their winemaking. Their top wines are long-lived and collectible.

That terroir is, of course, key. The Nahe has the most varied soils (including, especially, different kinds of volcanic soil) of any German region, as well as a climate that ranges from very cold high-elevation sites to pockets of Mediterranean warmth. This gives Dönnhoff a painter’s palette of flavors and textures from which to craft a perfect wine.

Tasting Notes & Food Pairings

Perfect Pairings

Roast pork loin, seared scallops, schnitzel, or rich poultry in cream sauce.

Tasting Profile

Peach, citrus, white flowers and a smoky, flinty mineral core. Full-bodied for a dry Riesling yet weightless, with racing acidity, deep stony intensity, and a long, dry, salty finish. Will reward years in the cellar.
