The Jura makes Chardonnay unlike anywhere else in France, and this is the bottle that proves it. Fumey-Chatelain farms in Montigny-les-Arsures, on land that abuts Domaine du Pelican — the Jura estate founded in 2012 by Burgundy's Marquis d'Angerville, which took over Jacques Puffeney's vineyards when the godfather of the Jura retired in 2014. That's the neighborhood. The Chardonnay grows on clay and limestone, ferments with native yeasts and spends a year and a half in barrel, topped up throughout so it stays taut and precise instead of turning oxidative. Where a Burgundy would give you richness, this gives you tension, white flowers and a saline snap. Chardonnay drinkers who think they know the grape should meet this one.

Returns & Exchanges

We stand behind every bottle we sell.

If the wine is less than 10 years old and it is corked, you may return it to us for a full refund or exchange within 60 days of purchase. You must show us proof of purchase. We understand that you may not live near a shop and that it is difficult to ship open bottles of wine to us, so if there's any problem feel free to Contact Us and we'll work it out.
For wines older than 10 years, the consumer bears the risk of a faulty cork, but we accept returns of older bottles if the wine is faulty as a result of improper storage. Please come by the store or Contact Us if there is a problem.
We may, at our discretion and to the extent permitted by law, accept returns of unopened wines within 30 days of purchase if they were properly stored by the purchaser, subject to a 15% re-stocking fee.

"The 2023 Chardonnay is their entry-level white, produced with grapes from different vineyards and terroirs, mostly old vines aged for 12 months in barrels and foudre and six months in tank. It has 12.5% alcohol and contained ripeness and is tasty and sapid, almost salty. It's very good for an entry level. 30,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in February 2025." —Luis Gutiérrez

More about Fumey-Chatelain

Domaine Fumey-Chatelain is a family-run estate producing wines for several decades. They’re located in the heart of the Jura, with land that abuts Domaine de Pelican (an estate which has gained fame for two reasons: the first being that it was previously owned by Jacques Puffeney, godfather of the Jura; the second being that it is currently owned by Burgundy's Marquis d’Angerville).

Marin Fumey is the current winemaker (his father tends the vines and his mother takes care of sales), and though his roots are firmly planted in the Jura, he’s traveled extensively as a wandering wine professional, with stints in Australia, South Africa, and New Zealand. All of this globetrotting has exposed Marin to new philosophies, practices and languages (he’s the rare Jurassien winemaker who is fluent in English); his goal now is to amplify his family’s efforts and make world class wine.

Where his father made just a handful of wines, Marin has expanded the Fumey-Chatelain range quite extensively, allowing him to put forth a variety of terroir expressions.
