A Santa Cruz brewery best known for hazy "Foggy IPAs" turns around and makes a Czech pilsner by the book — decoction mashing in copper kettles, horizontal lagering tanks, Czech Saaz hops. That's the fun of Humble Sea: the lager program is a deliberate technical counterweight to the experimental side of the house, and they describe those beers as precision-engineered rather than playful.
