Four native Georgian white grapes in equal parts, all fermented together in a buried clay qvevri: Rkatsiteli for citrus and structure, Mtsvane for aromatics, Kisi for weight, Khikhvi for spice. Zurab Topuridze crushes the fruit straight into the vessel and lets it go with the yeasts that arrive on the skins, then leaves it five to six months on partial skins and must before racking and bottling the following summer. Partial is the key word — this is a gentler amber than the full-maceration style, brilliant gold rather than deep orange, and at 12% alcohol it is genuinely easy drinking. Qvevri winemaking has gone on in Georgia for eight millennia; what is new is growers like Topuridze doing it for the wider world rather than only for the family cellar. Serve it around cellar temperature, since too much chill shuts the aromatics down.

Returns & Exchanges

We stand behind every bottle we sell.

  • If the wine is less than 10 years old and it is corked, you may return it to us for a full refund or exchange within 60 days of purchase. You must show us proof of purchase. We understand that you may not live near a shop and that it is difficult to ship open bottles of wine to us, so if there's any problem feel free to Contact Us and we'll work it out.
  • For wines older than 10 years, the consumer bears the risk of a faulty cork, but we accept returns of older bottles if the wine is faulty as a result of improper storage. Please come by the store or Contact Us if there is a problem.
  • We may, at our discretion and to the extent permitted by law, accept returns of unopened wines within 30 days of purchase if they were properly stored by the purchaser, subject to a 15% re-stocking fee.

Tasting Profile

Golden yellow, with tropical fruit, citrus and a dusting of spice. Soft and silky in the mouth rather than tannic, with steady acidity and a persistent mineral finish. Dry, light on its feet, refreshing.
