A debut release from Le Fontane, this Cerasuolo di Vittoria—Sicily's only DOCG—blends Frappato and Nero d'Avola with the brightness of newly established ambition. The wine displays vibrant ruby with garnet highlights, offering an expressive bouquet of red cherries, wild strawberries, and violets, underscored by Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, juicy red fruit meets refined tannins and fresh minerality, culminating in a persistent, harmonious finish.

Returns & Exchanges

We stand behind every bottle we sell.

  • If the wine is less than 10 years old and it is corked, you may return it to us for a full refund or exchange within 60 days of purchase. You must show us proof of purchase. We understand that you may not live near a shop and that it is difficult to ship open bottles of wine to us, so if there's any problem feel free to Contact Us and we'll work it out.
  • For wines older than 10 years, the consumer bears the risk of a faulty cork, but we accept returns of older bottles if the wine is faulty as a result of improper storage. Please come by the store or Contact Us if there is a problem.
  • We may, at our discretion and to the extent permitted by law, accept returns of unopened wines within 30 days of purchase if they were properly stored by the purchaser, subject to a 15% re-stocking fee.

More about Le Fontane

The name “Occhipinti” is basically synonymous with fine, terroir-driven, and naturally vinified Sicilian wines. First, Giusto Occhipinti helped to establish COS, a benchmark Vittoria-based winery and one of the first in Sicily to focus on organic, and then biodynamic, farming. Then, Giusto’s niece, Arianna Occhipinti, pioneered her own eponymous label, quickly becoming one of Sicily's most sought-after growers for her soulful and expressive wines.

Today, we introduce to you Le Fontane, a brand-new project spearheaded by Paolo and Giovanni Occhipinti. Like their father and cousin, their vineyards are centralized in Cerasuolo di Vittoria — the only appellation on the island that’s been granted the prestigious DOCG status. Nero d’Avola and Frappato are the all-star red grapes, and Grillo, Insolia, and Moscato are the championship white varieties.

The brothers didn’t just learn viticulture and winemaking from dad; they’re actually using fruit grown at COS, which is, unsurprisingly, pristine. As such, organic and biodynamic techniques are employed in the vineyards, and fermentations are spontaneous. Because the vines sit so close to the Mediterranean — a mere 10 miles or so — cooling ocean breezes bring both freshness and a marked salinity to every cuvée.
