From the producer: Michelini i Mufatto are situated at the foot of the Andes in one of the highest elevations of the Uco Valley where the soil contains some of the richest components of calcium carbonate and granite in all of SouthAmerica. This particular sub region is at the highest, most western portion of Gualtallary and goes by the name La Cautiva. Their Convicciones Chardonnay 2019 is fermented with native yeast and macerated on the skins for a bout 5 days. The wine is pure and precise with fresh acidty and chalky notes balanced by a medium bodied palate.

Returns & Exchanges

We stand behind every bottle we sell.

  • If the wine is less than 10 years old and it is corked, you may return it to us for a full refund or exchange within 60 days of purchase. You must show us proof of purchase. We understand that you may not live near a shop and that it is difficult to ship open bottles of wine to us, so if there's any problem feel free to Contact Us and we'll work it out.
  • For wines older than 10 years, the consumer bears the risk of a faulty cork, but we accept returns of older bottles if the wine is faulty as a result of improper storage. Please come by the store or Contact Us if there is a problem.
  • We may, at our discretion and to the extent permitted by law, accept returns of unopened wines within 30 days of purchase if they were properly stored by the purchaser, subject to a 15% re-stocking fee.

"The 2019 Convicciones is a pure Chardonnay from the zone known as La Cautiva in Gualtallary at 1,500 meters in altitude in the part that is still informally called Las Tunas of the district (once the IG is approved, the limits should be set formally). It has 13.5% alcohol, very good parameters of acidity and freshness and a medium-bodied palate with a strong chalky sensation. It's pure, clean, precise, symmetric and austere. This has to be the finest vintage for this bottling. They produced 1,500 bottles of this. It was bottled in June 2021. Best After 2022."

Michelini i Muffatti is a tiny family winery consisting of a mother, father and their baby. They make wines that emphasize freshness, energy and purity, almost exactly the opposite of what comes to mind when we think of Argentinian wine.

They use a number of different grape varieties that suit their style, and also the high altitude, mineral-rich soils of the Valle de Uco in the foothills of the Andes. Some vines are very old, and they experiment with techniques that are weirdly now considered both cutting edge and pre-industrial, like the use of amphorae.
