No wine book gets pulled off the shelf more often around here — when a customer asks where exactly the Côte des Bar sits, or what a Valtellina terrace actually looks like, this is what we open. The 9th edition of The World Atlas of Wine brings Hugh Johnson, Jancis Robinson MW and maps editor Julia Harding MW back to a reference that has been the standard since it first appeared in 1971, with the text completely overhauled to catch up on everything that has shifted since the 2019 edition: climate change pushing viticulture into far northern Europe, the spread of sustainability initiatives, the redrawing of regions. There are 18 brand-new maps, and they land squarely on regions we care about — the Côte des Bar, Valtellina, and the UGAs of Chianti Classico among them. That last one alone is worth the price of admission if you have spent the last few years trying to keep Panzano, Lamole and Radda straight in your head. It is a gorgeous object, but it is not a coffee-table book; it is the one you keep within arm's reach of wherever you drink.

Returns & Exchanges

We stand behind every bottle we sell.

  • If the wine is less than 10 years old and it is corked, you may return it to us for a full refund or exchange within 60 days of purchase. You must show us proof of purchase. We understand that you may not live near a shop and that it is difficult to ship open bottles of wine to us, so if there's any problem feel free to Contact Us and we'll work it out.
  • For wines older than 10 years, the consumer bears the risk of a faulty cork, but we accept returns of older bottles if the wine is faulty as a result of improper storage. Please come by the store or Contact Us if there is a problem.
  • We may, at our discretion and to the extent permitted by law, accept returns of unopened wines within 30 days of purchase if they were properly stored by the purchaser, subject to a 15% re-stocking fee.
