The Vallana estate as we know it was founded in 1937, and in the 1950’s and ‘60’s Antonio Vallana made a series of wines from some excellent vintages that really put the region on the map as place that could craft wines from Nebbiolo that rivaled the complexity and age-worthiness of Barolo and Barbaresco. After a period of hardship in the ‘80’s and ‘90’s the estate received some much needed investment and the great grandchildren of Antonio, Marina and Francis, have been producing wines in the same way, and with the same level of quality, as their ancestor. They continue to age the wines in casks and bottles for much longer prior to release than their neighbors, and yet their prices have barely budged.
