Veuve Clicquot Champagne Yellow Label Brut NV

$5999
Use code 10OFF to get 10% off 12+ bottles

The most recognizable bottle in Champagne, and it earns that recognition with consistency: Yellow Label tastes the same reassuring way every year, which is much harder to pull off than it sounds. The house blends 50 to 60 different crus and leans heavily on its enormous reserve wine collection to hold the style steady, with Pinot Noir setting the structure and Chardonnay and Meunier filling in around it. That Pinot backbone is the Clicquot signature — the house has built its identity on it since Madame Clicquot herself took over in the early 1800s and invented riddling to make clear, modern Champagne possible. The bright yellow label dates to 1877, when the house registered the color to distinguish itself. Chill it well and don't overthink it; this is a bottle for arrivals, toasts, and anything that needs to start well.

Decanter

94 points

"Lemony richness on the nose, a struck match character that falls in with lemon vanilla note. Toffee apple allure on the palate with chalky coolness & savoury nutty finish."

Wine Spectator

90 points

"This is tightly knit and racy, with a spicy underpinning and a clean-cut mix of poached pear, grated ginger and pink grapefruit zest. An aperitif style, showing a crisp, lacy finish."

More about Veuve Clicquot

By now, Veuve Clicquot has become a household name. Known for its distinctive yellow label the world over, the Maison is a ubiquitous symbol of luxury and celebration. The most elusive and exclusive of the Veuve Clicquot lineup is of course their tête de cuvée: La Grande Dame. Created in 1962 and launched in 1972 to celebrate the bicentenary of the House, La Grande Dame is a wine that is both a tribute to Madame Clicquot Ponsardin and the reflection of the Veuve Clicquot terroir.

Tasting Notes & Food Pairings

Perfect Pairings

Fried chicken, potato chips with crème fraîche and caviar, shrimp cocktail, or a cheese course leaning toward Brie and Comté. It is also the default apéritif for a reason.

Tasting Profile

Yellow apple, pear, citrus and a toasty brioche note from the reserve wines. Medium-bodied and dry with a creamy mousse, brisk acidity, and a clean, gently biscuity finish.
