Vermentino is Sardinia's great white grape, and Branu is Vigne Surrau's most direct take on it: bottled young, so the minerality and freshness that define Vermentino di Gallura stay in the bottle. Gallura is the island's northeastern corner, and Branu's vines grow in weathered granite that breaks down toward sand. The winery sits a few kilometres from the Costa Smeralda, on the road from Arzachena to Porto Cervo, where the vineyards lie among granite outcrops and catch the maestrale wind blowing in from the Straits of Bonifacio (the narrow channel between Sardinia and Corsica). It's 100% Vermentino under Gallura's DOCG, from an estate that farms sustainably. If Sciala is the argument for taking the grape seriously, Branu is the easy answer, and a very convincing one. This is the bottle you open without ceremony on a warm evening, ideally with something that came out of the sea that morning.

Returns & Exchanges

We stand behind every bottle we sell.

  • If the wine is less than 10 years old and it is corked, you may return it to us for a full refund or exchange within 60 days of purchase. You must show us proof of purchase. We understand that you may not live near a shop and that it is difficult to ship open bottles of wine to us, so if there's any problem feel free to Contact Us and we'll work it out.
  • For wines older than 10 years, the consumer bears the risk of a faulty cork, but we accept returns of older bottles if the wine is faulty as a result of improper storage. Please come by the store or Contact Us if there is a problem.
  • We may, at our discretion and to the extent permitted by law, accept returns of unopened wines within 30 days of purchase if they were properly stored by the purchaser, subject to a 15% re-stocking fee.

Tasting Profile

Expect the classic Vermentino di Gallura profile: lemon, green apple and white peach with a herbal, slightly saline edge and the stony minerality the granite soils are known for. Typically light-bodied and dry, with bright, refreshing acidity and a clean finish with a faint touch of bitter almond. Think of a more aromatic, sea-breezy Pinot Grigio.
