Taittinger, Flatiron and the World Cup
Dear Friends,

In this blog, we tend to favor the grower/producers; those small families farming their own vines and crafting wines that taste like somewhere specific rather than something merely consistent. But we are not dogmatic, and we love great wine and Taittinger makes exceptional wine.

Maybe this is because Taittinger has fiercely maintained its identity. While other grandes marques were being absorbed into luxury conglomerates, the family bought the house back in 2006 after a brief corporate detour. It remains one of the last family-owned houses of its scale, run today by Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger and his children. That independence shines through in the glass. Where many large houses chase a rich, risk-free, crowd-pleasing style, Taittinger stakes its identity on Chardonnay, the grape that demands the most patience and rewards it with the most grace.

While prestige bottlings often steal the headlines, their non-vintage Brut, La Française, is the true star of the lineup and represents an absolutely insane value for Champagne of this pedigree. This bottle proves that a grand house can still deliver breathtaking elegance at scale. Driven by a remarkably high proportion of Chardonnay, it offers a crisp, vibrant, and laser-focused energy that punches far above its price point. It is your ultimate luxury for a casual Tuesday night, or the ideal bottle to pop when you have a large crowd to keep happy on a warm Saturday afternoon in the backyard.

To complement the everyday luxury of La Française, we are also offering their pinnacle prestige cuvée. The house owns more grand cru Chardonnay vineyards than almost any other producer in Champagne, including magnificent holdings in the Côte des Blancs. That wealth of raw material reaches its peak in Comtes de Champagne. Both the 2013 and 2014 vintage spent nearly a decade on the lees before release, and it shows. This is a Blanc de Blancs of extraordinary precision, blending the chalky tension of Cramant and Avize with a decade of slow, patient development. Beyond its technical brilliance,

And now for the most exciting part; Flatiron is partnering with Taittinger to host World Cup watch parties in our dedicated Taittinger Lounge, transforming our space into the ultimate summer viewing destination. Come relax in style, gather with friends, play a round of foosball, pop a bottle or two of La Française, and watch a match in total comfort. With our special World Cup discounts you will be getting the best prices on Taittinger in the country. We are proud to host this perfect union of world-class soccer, insane value, and world-class bubbles, and we cannot wait to share a glass with you.
