Agnes et Rene Mosse Cabernet Franc 2024

While plenty of Anjou growers treat their reds as an afterthought, the Mosse family gives Cabernet Franc the same reverence they give their Chenin, and the result is one of the more compelling expressions of the grape anywhere in France. Agnes and Rene Mosse founded the domaine in Saint-Lambert-du-Lattay in 1999 and farmed organically from day one; sons Sylvestre and Joseph officially took over in 2018. The vines sit on the shallow schist and sandstone soils of the Massif Armoricain along the Layon fault, which is where the dark, slatey mineral streak in this wine comes from. It is drawn from decades-old vines, fermented with native yeasts and given extended aging in neutral barrel, which rounds the structure without muting an ounce of the fruit. Production is tiny and the family's global following claims most of every vintage on release.

Returns & Exchanges

We stand behind every bottle we sell.

  • If the wine is less than 10 years old and it is corked, you may return it to us for a full refund or exchange within 60 days of purchase. You must show us proof of purchase. We understand that you may not live near a shop and that it is difficult to ship open bottles of wine to us, so if there's any problem feel free to Contact Us and we'll work it out.
  • For wines older than 10 years, the consumer bears the risk of a faulty cork, but we accept returns of older bottles if the wine is faulty as a result of improper storage. Please come by the store or Contact Us if there is a problem.
  • We may, at our discretion and to the extent permitted by law, accept returns of unopened wines within 30 days of purchase if they were properly stored by the purchaser, subject to a 15% re-stocking fee.

Redcurrant, dark raspberry and crushed violets, with graphite, crushed stone and a faint whisper of bell pepper. Medium-bodied and dry, with silky fine tannins, fresh acidity and a long, slate-inflected finish.
