Where Alfaro's estate block faces south, Lindsay Paige looks northwest, a cooler and later-ripening slope that yields the most delicate Pinot Noir on the farm. Planted in 1998 and named for the Alfaros' daughter, the seven-acre site is a high-density planting in the Corralitos hills, with the Pinot Noir in its upper section, less than four miles from Monterey Bay and squarely in the fog's path. The northwest aspect keeps the fruit shaded through the hottest part of the afternoon, and that shows up in the glass as perfume and lift rather than weight. Richard and Mary Kay Alfaro bought this old apple country in 1997 after selling an artisan bread business; their son Ryan now makes the wines with native yeasts, a portion of whole clusters and French oak. A quietly serious bottle from one of California's coolest coastal appellations, and worth tasting beside the estate cuvee to see what an exposure does.

Returns & Exchanges

We stand behind every bottle we sell.

  • If the wine is less than 10 years old and it is corked, you may return it to us for a full refund or exchange within 60 days of purchase. You must show us proof of purchase. We understand that you may not live near a shop and that it is difficult to ship open bottles of wine to us, so if there's any problem feel free to Contact Us and we'll work it out.
  • For wines older than 10 years, the consumer bears the risk of a faulty cork, but we accept returns of older bottles if the wine is faulty as a result of improper storage. Please come by the store or Contact Us if there is a problem.
  • We may, at our discretion and to the extent permitted by law, accept returns of unopened wines within 30 days of purchase if they were properly stored by the purchaser, subject to a 15% re-stocking fee.

Alfaro Family Vineyards is run by husband and wife team Richard Alfaro and Mary Kay. They farm 65 acres of vines at their estate in Corralitos, located within the Santa Cruz Mountains appellation. Currently in production is Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Syrah and Gruner Veltliner.

Tasting Profile

Bright red cherry, raspberry and dried rose, with a touch of baking spice. Light- to medium-bodied, with silky tannins and fresh acidity. Perfumed and lifted through a long, clean finish.
