We are thrilled to be welcoming Benjamin Franchetti of Sicily's trailblazing Passopisciaro winery for a very special seminar this Tuesday, September 22nd at 5:30pm.

When founder Andrea Franchetti visited the majestic island in 2000, his keen eye picked out abandoned vineyards on the northern side of Mount Etna with the unique combination of high-elevation terraces and varied, black lava soils. His presence on Etna over the ensuing decades sparked the renaissance of viticulture on the mountain, stimulating international discovery and appreciation of the special wines of Etna. Andrea passed away in 2021, and his son Benjamin has carried the work forward alongside Vincenzo Lo Mauro, the estate's director and winemaker since the very first day — continuing his father's devotion to Etna's forgotten single vineyards (contrade) and his championing of the noble red grape, Nerello Mascalese.

Considered one of the top estates in Sicily, Passopisciaro is a force to be reckoned with; a name mentioned alongside trailblazing contemporaries like Salvo Foti, Terre Nere's Marco de Grazia, and the Benanti brothers, all producers who we love and have written about extensively.
