At Bibich, Plavina usually plays a supporting role. It's one of three native grapes found in nearly every vineyard around Plastovo, it goes into the estate's traditional field-blend Cuvee, and the family uses it to lighten their Syrah. This bottling gives it the stage to itself, and it's a real chance to taste a Dalmatian variety most drinkers have never met on its own. The fruit comes from organically farmed, hand-picked vines that average 50 years old, rooted in the karst and limestone of Plastovo, near Croatia's Adriatic coast. Bibich keeps the winemaking out of the way: fermentation with native yeasts and minimal intervention. It belongs to the family's "Domaine" line, which uses the low-intervention methods their ancestors used, and that's no small claim from a family whose winemaking records go back more than 500 years. Alen Bibich built the estate's work over decades. His wife Vesna and the Bibich team now carry that work on, and this wine is a direct way to see why it mattered.

Returns & Exchanges

We stand behind every bottle we sell.

  • If the wine is less than 10 years old and it is corked, you may return it to us for a full refund or exchange within 60 days of purchase. You must show us proof of purchase. We understand that you may not live near a shop and that it is difficult to ship open bottles of wine to us, so if there's any problem feel free to Contact Us and we'll work it out.
  • For wines older than 10 years, the consumer bears the risk of a faulty cork, but we accept returns of older bottles if the wine is faulty as a result of improper storage. Please come by the store or Contact Us if there is a problem.
  • We may, at our discretion and to the extent permitted by law, accept returns of unopened wines within 30 days of purchase if they were properly stored by the purchaser, subject to a 15% re-stocking fee.
