L'Ardillon is a specific south-facing parcel within Brézé, the storied limestone hilltop that defines great Saumur Chenin. It is also Brendan Stater-West's most prestigious bottling: a 0.38-hectare plot of old vines planted in the 1950s on 80 cm of clay-loam over Turonian limestone, farmed organically, harvested whole-cluster, fermented with indigenous yeast, and aged 24 months on lees in barrel before another five months in tank. Stater-West (American expat, Guiberteau's protege, heir to the Clos Rougeard tradition) makes very little of this. The result is a Chenin of remarkable tension and depth, the kind of bottle to lay down and forget. Imported by Becky Wasserman.

Returns & Exchanges

We stand behind every bottle we sell.

If the wine is less than 10 years old and it is corked, you may return it to us for a full refund or exchange within 60 days of purchase. You must show us proof of purchase. We understand that you may not live near a shop and that it is difficult to ship open bottles of wine to us, so if there's any problem feel free to Contact Us and we'll work it out.
For wines older than 10 years, the consumer bears the risk of a faulty cork, but we accept returns of older bottles if the wine is faulty as a result of improper storage. Please come by the store or Contact Us if there is a problem.
We may, at our discretion and to the extent permitted by law, accept returns of unopened wines within 30 days of purchase if they were properly stored by the purchaser, subject to a 15% re-stocking fee.

Oregon native Brendan Stater-West came to France to teach English in Paris, tasted Domaine Guiberteau's Brézé in a wine shop and fell hard for Chenin Blanc. He moved to Saumur, talked Romain Guiberteau into taking him on as an apprentice, and became his right-hand man. Since his first vintage in 2015 he has made his own Saumur from a leased hectare in Les Chapaudaises and old-vine parcels in Brézé, plus a Cabernet Franc, La Ripaille.
