Chavy Martin Macon Chardonnay 2023

Here's a fun one to spring on a wine-nerd friend: this Chardonnay comes from the village of Chardonnay. That's right, there's a town in the Maconnais that (by legend) gave the grape its name, and this bottle is made from its fruit. The Chavy family are respected names up in Puligny-Montrachet, and this is their debut vintage working the village of Chardonnay's vineyards from their Puligny cellar. They raised it entirely in stainless steel to keep the fruit bright and pure, no oak coloring things in. It's a lot of white Burgundy pedigree for a wine that drinks this easy.

Returns & Exchanges

We stand behind every bottle we sell.

  • If the wine is less than 10 years old and it is corked, you may return it to us for a full refund or exchange within 60 days of purchase. You must show us proof of purchase. We understand that you may not live near a shop and that it is difficult to ship open bottles of wine to us, so if there's any problem feel free to Contact Us and we'll work it out.
  • For wines older than 10 years, the consumer bears the risk of a faulty cork, but we accept returns of older bottles if the wine is faulty as a result of improper storage. Please come by the store or Contact Us if there is a problem.
  • We may, at our discretion and to the extent permitted by law, accept returns of unopened wines within 30 days of purchase if they were properly stored by the purchaser, subject to a 15% re-stocking fee.

<p>Alain Chavy and his son, Corantin are purchasing fruit from the village of Macon-Chardonnay and making the wine in their cellar in Puligny-Montrachet. 2023 is their inaugural vintage. There are 27 villages in the Macon that have the right to attach their village names to their bottling, indicating a higher quality level and also the area where the grapes came from. In this case, the "Chardonnay" in Macon-Chardonnay is referring to the village of Chardonnay and not the grape, although it is, of course, 100% Chardonnay. </p>
