Returns & Exchanges

We stand behind every bottle we sell.

  • If the wine is less than 10 years old and it is corked, you may return it to us for a full refund or exchange within 60 days of purchase. You must show us proof of purchase. We understand that you may not live near a shop and that it is difficult to ship open bottles of wine to us, so if there's any problem feel free to Contact Us and we'll work it out.
  • For wines older than 10 years, the consumer bears the risk of a faulty cork, but we accept returns of older bottles if the wine is faulty as a result of improper storage. Please come by the store or Contact Us if there is a problem.
  • We may, at our discretion and to the extent permitted by law, accept returns of unopened wines within 30 days of purchase if they were properly stored by the purchaser, subject to a 15% re-stocking fee.

"The white 2020 Blanco is a little closed, young, clean and tender with subtle oak. They produced a little bit more in 2020, and the wine has less oak and less buttery sensations, a change that started with the 2017 vintage, which seems to have found its style harvesting earlier to retain freshness; it has 13.04% alcohol and a low pH 3.23 and matured in larger oak containers, 500-liter oak barrels and some concrete for 12 months. It's floral and expressive, a blend of Viura with 20% Garnacha Blanca that they still consider work in progress but moving in the direction they want to go." —Luis Gutiérrez

Contino is a pathbreaking, historic wine. Even though it smells and tastes like the quintessential Rioja, when CVNE started the winery in 1973 it seemed revolutionary. Instead of blending the wine from different parts of Rioja, CVNE decided to create a Bordeaux-style "Chateau" wine, one where all the vines grew around the winery. A Rioja to represent a specific terroir that they loved. That model caught fire and wineries all over Rioja began focusing on single terroir -- and even single-vineyard -- wines. What's amazing about tasting Contino's Reserva fifty years later isn't just that they've stayed true to that vision. Even as the wine is distinct and marked by a special fruit and aromatic profile, it's still Riojana to its very core.
