Domaine Saint-Damien’s “Le Dix” 2021 is an offbeat Rhône red made from 50% Caladoc and 50% Marselan—crosses of Grenache with Malbec and Cabernet, respectively. Organically grown on alluvial soils, this Vin de France cuvée falls outside traditional AOC rules.

Fermented in concrete and aged in old foudres, it’s juicy, spicy, and earthy, with dark berry fruit and peppery lift. A soulful everyday red from a top Gigondas estate.

The Saurel family of Domaine Saint-Damien has been farming grapes and making wine in the hamlet of Gigondas for several generations now. Currently Joel and son Romain are now at the reigns and with the exception of a few cellar updates they have changed very little, follow the long traditions of their predecessors.
