Peter Sisseck arrived in Ribera del Duero in 1990, found gnarled old bush vines of Tinto Fino that nobody much wanted, and proceeded to redraw the map of Spanish wine. Flor de Pingus is not a watered-down echo of the flagship -- it's its own wine, drawn from old vines around the high village of La Horra, farmed biodynamically since 2000. The 2023 spent eight months in barrel with a portion raised in large oak vats, so the oak sits underneath the fruit rather than on top of it. What you get is modern Ribera at its most refined: dark and deep but not heavy, structured but supple, with real perfume. It's a wine that's open for business now and will keep evolving for many years.

Returns & Exchanges

We stand behind every bottle we sell.

  • If the wine is less than 10 years old and it is corked, you may return it to us for a full refund or exchange within 60 days of purchase. You must show us proof of purchase. We understand that you may not live near a shop and that it is difficult to ship open bottles of wine to us, so if there's any problem feel free to Contact Us and we'll work it out.
  • For wines older than 10 years, the consumer bears the risk of a faulty cork, but we accept returns of older bottles if the wine is faulty as a result of improper storage. Please come by the store or Contact Us if there is a problem.
  • We may, at our discretion and to the extent permitted by law, accept returns of unopened wines within 30 days of purchase if they were properly stored by the purchaser, subject to a 15% re-stocking fee.

"The 2023 Flor de Pingus is pretty, juicy, ripe and approachable, less serious than the 2022. It's all really balanced and integrated and has good purity. The wine spent eight months in oak barrels, and in 2023, they introduced six 2,000-liter oak vats for the élevage of part of the wine, which represents around 15% of the volume, where it matured for 12 months. It's an approachable vintage of Flor. ("
