Eric Boigelot Volnay Ez Blanches 2023

Volnay is Pommard's lighter, more perfumed neighbor, and Ez Blanches sits high on the slope on lean, pale soils — the lieu-dit name itself nods to the white limestone underneath. Éric Boigelot works small parcels here in a traditional, low-intervention key, and the result is everything Volnay should be: silky, floral, lifted, with red-fruit transparency and a fine-boned structure. A village-level bottling that drinks like it should cost considerably more, and a lovely introduction to one of the Côte de Beaune's most aromatic communes.

Returns & Exchanges

We stand behind every bottle we sell.

  • If the wine is less than 10 years old and it is corked, you may return it to us for a full refund or exchange within 60 days of purchase. You must show us proof of purchase. We understand that you may not live near a shop and that it is difficult to ship open bottles of wine to us, so if there's any problem feel free to Contact Us and we'll work it out.
  • For wines older than 10 years, the consumer bears the risk of a faulty cork, but we accept returns of older bottles if the wine is faulty as a result of improper storage. Please come by the store or Contact Us if there is a problem.
  • We may, at our discretion and to the extent permitted by law, accept returns of unopened wines within 30 days of purchase if they were properly stored by the purchaser, subject to a 15% re-stocking fee.

"The 2023 Volnay Ez Blanche comes from white limestone soils, as indicated by the name, located just above Clos des Chênes. This has a very perfumed bouquet with red cherries, strawberry and wilted rose petals. Well defined and utterly charming. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, a little spicier than the other reds from Boigelot, demonstrating impressive delineation on the black pepper tinged finish. Very fine." —Neal Martin
