More about Ghostwriter

Despite having produced some of California’s legendary wines by the likes of Martin Ray, Paul Masson, and Chaffee Hall, the Santa Cruz Mountains remain overshadowed by the Golden State's other heralded wine zones. These early pioneers saw the potential in the fog filled, deep river valleys and redwood covered peaks. Situated between the Pacific Ocean the SF bay, these mountains hold an embarrassing amount of micro-climates and soil types.

Having already made a name for himself with his Hobo and Folk machine wines, Kenny Liketakrong saw in the Santa Cruz Mountains an untapped opportunity to make some Californian site specific and distinct wines. Unlike his other labels that focus on wines from a bevy of varietals from all over the state, Kenny decided to focus on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from sites that he sustainably farms and manages himself.

The winemaking and cellar work is simple and unforced. The wines are fermented without commercial yeast or other commercial adjuncts and aged primarily in neutral French barrels and concrete eggs with a small percentage of new oak revolving in each year. All of the wines are sur-lies for 18-20 months with very little or no sulfur added until bottling and then bottled without fining or filtration. A true expression of fruit, earth, and balance from one of the most undervalued appellations in the state
