A rare selection from one of Galicia's most passionate winemakers, this Ribeiro red showcases indigenous Spanish varieties rarely seen beyond the region. Luis Rodriguez revived Tinto production in Ribeiro using Caiño Longo, Caiño Redondo, Ferrol, and Brancellao from nearly 200 micro-plots of decomposed granite soils in Arnoia. Made only in the finest vintages, Escolma receives careful barrel aging and represents the pinnacle of Rodriguez's decades-long commitment to complexity. This captures the rugged character of northwest Spain's most misunderstood region.

Returns & Exchanges

We stand behind every bottle we sell.

  • If the wine is less than 10 years old and it is corked, you may return it to us for a full refund or exchange within 60 days of purchase. You must show us proof of purchase. We understand that you may not live near a shop and that it is difficult to ship open bottles of wine to us, so if there's any problem feel free to Contact Us and we'll work it out.
  • For wines older than 10 years, the consumer bears the risk of a faulty cork, but we accept returns of older bottles if the wine is faulty as a result of improper storage. Please come by the store or Contact Us if there is a problem.
  • We may, at our discretion and to the extent permitted by law, accept returns of unopened wines within 30 days of purchase if they were properly stored by the purchaser, subject to a 15% re-stocking fee.

Over the past three decades, Luis Rodriguez has quietly established himself as the master of the Ribeiro, that tiny corner of Galicia that has historically been home to some of Spain’s greatest wines. His wines are not showy, and they don't adhere to the any of the trends or fads that periodically seize the wine world. They are gorgeous wines, crafted entirely of native grapes, and they veritably roar with maritime terroir.

Centuries ago, Ribeiro was responsible for some of the most highly esteemed and widely traded wines in Europe, but a series of devastations (war, disease, war again) cut that fame short. Today, it is a region ripe for revival. A truly passionate and skilled winemaker like Rodriguez can take the region’s granitic soil, its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean and its unique grapes and produce wines that are much more than the sum of their parts—something truly magical.

Over the last 30 years, Luis Rodriguez has managed to amass close to a hundred micro-parcels, all around the small town of Arnoia. From these vines, he produces incredibly complex, mineral-driven and deliciously distinctive wines; there is no doubt that his can hold their own against some of the finest wines from anywhere. Despite all hailing from the same tiny geographic area, there are striking differences between each cuvée.

These are wines we love to drink: honest, authentic and entirely singular examples of passion and talent, united in one winemaker.
