MarBeso SLO Coast Chardonnay Rancho Arroyo Grande Vineyard 2024

Chardonnay off 1990s plantings in sandy loam over diatomaceous earth, on a historic ranch in the SLO Coast AVA whose fruit has only recently begun appearing in outside winemakers' bottles. Rancho Arroyo Grande runs to 230 planted acres, farmed organically and sustainably, surrounded by thousands of acres of wilderness between Lake Lopez and the Los Padres National Forest. Colin and Hannah McNany make MarBeso, which means sea kiss in Spanish, out of Buellton, buying cool coastal sites up and down the Central Coast and printing the distance to the Pacific on every label. Colin picks early, ferments with native yeasts and keeps away from new oak; this one was fermented entirely in barrel and comes out linear and fresh rather than broad.

Returns & Exchanges

We stand behind every bottle we sell.

  • If the wine is less than 10 years old and it is corked, you may return it to us for a full refund or exchange within 60 days of purchase. You must show us proof of purchase. We understand that you may not live near a shop and that it is difficult to ship open bottles of wine to us, so if there's any problem feel free to Contact Us and we'll work it out.
  • For wines older than 10 years, the consumer bears the risk of a faulty cork, but we accept returns of older bottles if the wine is faulty as a result of improper storage. Please come by the store or Contact Us if there is a problem.
  • We may, at our discretion and to the extent permitted by law, accept returns of unopened wines within 30 days of purchase if they were properly stored by the purchaser, subject to a 15% re-stocking fee.

Grilled halibut or sea bass with lemon, Dungeness crab, oysters, chicken paillard with herbs, or a bowl of clam chowder.

Tasting Profile

Citrus and green apple with white flowers and a chalky, saline edge. Light to medium-bodied and taut, with high acidity and a subtle creamy texture from barrel fermentation. Dry, clean, mineral finish.
