Pierre Gimonnet Champagne Brut 1er Cru Rose de Blancs NV

$6999
95% Chardonnay, half of which is Grand Cru and the other half 1er Cru, then finished with 5% of still red wine from Cumieres.
A very pale pink color, almost rose gold, it shares some similarities with the always popular (and frequently out of stock) Billecart-Salmon rosé.
But the Gimonnet is even more mineral and saline with a core of structure and acidity that is overlaid with very subtle raspberry and cranberry fruits.
Delicious on its own, it is also a great pairing for everything from fried chicken to luxurious holiday cheese board.

Wine Spectator

90 points

"Fresh and lively, an open-knit rosé, with hints of plum, chalk, candied lemon zest and passion fruit. A clean-cut, minerally aperitif."

Wine Enthusiast

90 points

"This delicately colored rosé is made by adding red wine to Chardonnay, allowed in the Champagne region, and hence the name Rosé des Blancs. It’s a new venture for Gimonnet, under the current direction of Didier Gimonnet, and is a great success. Fruity, crisp and steely. it is light and bright; a fine apéritif style."

More about Pierre Gimonnet

Pierre Gimonnet, a top Grower in the Cotes des Blancs, who helped to found the The Club Trésors, back in the early 1970s. Nearly 50 years later, the Gimonnet family is still one of their benchmark producers. These wines embody everything we love about Champagne from the Côte des Blancs, especially Cramant. The Gimonnet style is luxurious, but still quite nervy and exciting. There is toasty brioche, sure, but also soaring acidity and lovely, yellow fruit. And the wines are long-lived as demonstrated by many 20+ year old wines we've been lucky to taste.
