Paolo Coccia has more than seventy harvests behind him, which is not a typo. His family sharecropped this hillside in Lamole from the early 1900s and finally bought it outright in 1962; today he farms it with his daughter Serena and an all-female family crew. Lamole is the high, cool, sandy corner of Chianti Classico, and the wines it makes are the light-footed, floral, red-fruited kind rather than the muscular kind — three and a half hectares of vines, worked the way they've always been worked. There's nothing modern or dressed-up here. It's Sangiovese as a farmhouse red, in the best possible sense, and it drinks like it.

Returns & Exchanges

We stand behind every bottle we sell.

  • If the wine is less than 10 years old and it is corked, you may return it to us for a full refund or exchange within 60 days of purchase. You must show us proof of purchase. We understand that you may not live near a shop and that it is difficult to ship open bottles of wine to us, so if there's any problem feel free to Contact Us and we'll work it out.
  • For wines older than 10 years, the consumer bears the risk of a faulty cork, but we accept returns of older bottles if the wine is faulty as a result of improper storage. Please come by the store or Contact Us if there is a problem.
  • We may, at our discretion and to the extent permitted by law, accept returns of unopened wines within 30 days of purchase if they were properly stored by the purchaser, subject to a 15% re-stocking fee.

"A certified organic wine, the Podere Castellinuzza 2021 Chianti Classico shows ripe fruit and a lightly spicy side with toasted cinnamon and nutmeg. Those tones come from the fruit, as this wine is vinified simply in cement with grapes from a two-hectare site at 550 meters in elevation with sandstone soils. Fresh blackberry, earth, violet and bitter almond appear in this vibrant mid-weight Sangiovese (blended with 5% Canaiolo)." —Monica Larner
