If you've been curious about Listán Negro, this is the bottle Loreto Pancorbo made to show you what it is. Wanderer belongs to her "Chica Reductiva" line, a series of reds meant to put the grape front and center. All of the fruit comes from Cruz de Leandro, an old vineyard 600 metres up in Tacoronte, on Tenerife, that she and her partner Gabriel Morales are bringing back to life. The 2025 is 95% Listán Negro with a little Negramoll and Verdello. It's fermented as whole clusters with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel, then rests five months in a large concrete tank, so there's nothing between you and the vineyard. Pancorbo and Morales farm organically and make about 10,000 bottles a year in total, in a house-winery with no machinery. As for the name, the first song Loreto heard during that harvest at Cruz de Leandro was from Cat Power's album Wanderer, and it stuck. For anyone just getting into Canary Islands reds, this is an honest, easygoing place to start.

More about Tierra Fundida

Tierra Fundida is a brand-new import — it landed in New York just last year. They work just 3.5 hectares, in the Valle de la Orotava, in the north of Tenerife, growing native grapes like Listán Blanco, Albillo Criollo, Negramoll and Verdello. Everything is done by hand and by gravity; they use an old vertical press, concrete and clay for fermentation, and clay and barrels for aging. There are free range farm animals roaming everywhere, and the winemakers live on site. These are pure, elegant expressions of Tenerife’s wild terroir.

Tasting Notes & Food Pairings

Perfect Pairings

Canarian papas arrugadas with mojo rojo, grilled sardines or mackerel, pinchos morunos (spiced pork skewers), chorizo and jamón boards, roasted mushroom tacos.

Tasting Profile

Expect the classic Listán Negro profile: red cherry and crushed raspberry with black pepper, a smoky, volcanic edge and a hint of struck-match reduction. Whole-cluster fermentation and no oak typically give a light-to-medium body, fresh acidity and soft, fine tannins, finishing dry and savoury. Think of a peppery, more mineral Beaujolais.
