Muskateller is the most aromatic grape in the Wachau and one of the least planted, which makes a bottle like this a small pleasure worth seeking out — all the perfume of Muscat, and bone dry. Federspiel is the middle Wachau category, between 11.5 and 12.5% alcohol, named for the lure a falconer swings to call a bird back, a nod to the region's hunting past. Roman Jäger is the fifth generation at this Weissenkirchen estate, farming nine hectares and turning out roughly 50,000 bottles a year, all fermented cool in stainless steel with native yeasts so the aromatics arrive intact. If your usual move is Grüner or Riesling, this is the detour worth taking. Serve it well chilled.

Returns & Exchanges

We stand behind every bottle we sell.

  • If the wine is less than 10 years old and it is corked, you may return it to us for a full refund or exchange within 60 days of purchase. You must show us proof of purchase. We understand that you may not live near a shop and that it is difficult to ship open bottles of wine to us, so if there's any problem feel free to Contact Us and we'll work it out.
  • For wines older than 10 years, the consumer bears the risk of a faulty cork, but we accept returns of older bottles if the wine is faulty as a result of improper storage. Please come by the store or Contact Us if there is a problem.
  • We may, at our discretion and to the extent permitted by law, accept returns of unopened wines within 30 days of purchase if they were properly stored by the purchaser, subject to a 15% re-stocking fee.

Perfect Pairings

Thai green curry, Vietnamese summer rolls with nuoc cham, a fennel and orange salad, or fresh goat cheese with herbs. Also excellent with anything involving cilantro or lemongrass.

Tasting Profile

Explosive nose of orange blossom, elderflower, grape and lime zest. Dry and light to medium-bodied, with lively acidity that cuts the perfume and keeps the wine from feeling sweet. Clean, floral, faintly grapey finish.
