A bottle from the era when Burgundy's Grand Crus were building their legendary reputations. This 1937 Chambertin from Bouchard Père & Fils—the Burgundy house founded in 1731—represents nearly a century of aging. The 3 1/4 inch fill level is typical for wines of this age and reflects graceful, slow evolution over decades. At nearly 90 years old, this bottle stands as a historical testament to the enduring power of great Burgundian terroir and the artistry of one of the region's most prestigious estates. A true collector's artifact.

Bouchard is one of the larger land owners and negociants (purchasing fruit from other farmers) in Burgundy, but that means that the wines are often terrific value. 50 or 60 years ago, long before the Cote d'Or was full of famous domaines and winemakers whose wines fetch hundreds or thousands of dollars, most of the Burgundy you would find at cafés and bistros was from negociants.
