Founded in 1731, Bouchard Père & Fils is one of Burgundy’s oldest and most respected domaines, with a deep library of historic vintages. This 1937 Chambertin Grand Cru comes from Pinot Noir grown on the appellation’s limestone-clay soils, hand-harvested and traditionally vinified before aging in French oak.

Bottled in an era before modern mechanization, it reflects both the heritage of pre-war Burgundy and the enduring reputation of Chambertin for producing powerful, long-lived wines. A rare piece of viticultural history.

Bouchard is one of the larger land owners and negociants (purchasing fruit from other farmers) in Burgundy, but that means that the wines are often terrific value. 50 or 60 years ago, long before the Cote d'Or was full of famous domaines and winemakers whose wines fetch hundreds or thousands of dollars, most of the Burgundy you would find at cafés and bistros was from negociants.
