A First Growth in its thirtieth year. The 1995 vintage in Bordeaux was a classical, structured year — firmly built, slow to evolve, demanding patience — and Latour, as ever, was among its most ageworthy expressions. Three decades on, this is now approaching its prime drinking window: the granite-like structure that defined it in youth has begun to soften into something more nuanced, with the cassis fruit folding into cedar, tobacco, leather, and the unmistakable graphite signature of Pauillac. A wine to plan a meal around. Decant for several hours.

Returns & Exchanges

We stand behind every bottle we sell.

  • If the wine is less than 10 years old and it is corked, you may return it to us for a full refund or exchange within 60 days of purchase. You must show us proof of purchase. We understand that you may not live near a shop and that it is difficult to ship open bottles of wine to us, so if there's any problem feel free to Contact Us and we'll work it out.
  • For wines older than 10 years, the consumer bears the risk of a faulty cork, but we accept returns of older bottles if the wine is faulty as a result of improper storage. Please come by the store or Contact Us if there is a problem.
  • We may, at our discretion and to the extent permitted by law, accept returns of unopened wines within 30 days of purchase if they were properly stored by the purchaser, subject to a 15% re-stocking fee.

Medium to full-bodied, with exceptional purity, superb concentration, and a long, intense, ripe, 40-second finish, this is a magnificent example of Latour. "The nose showed warm and sunny, baked black and red fruit on the nose and a supple but dense texture. The impressive level of tannin noted in earlier tastings is softening now, and the wine is ready to drink but will hold. A lovely wine, outperforming the 1996 at this point. Picking was finished in September, taking place from the 13th to the 27th. The final blend is nearly three-quarters Cabernet Sauvignon, with just a drop of Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot and Merlot for the balance."

Tasting Profile

Full-bodied and majestic. Cassis, dried black cherry, cedar, tobacco, leather, graphite, sweet earth. Fine, integrated tannins, deep mineral spine, very long finish.
