Maxime Cheurlin took over his family's Domaine Georges Noëllat in 2010, when he was just twenty, after training under his uncle Emmanuel Rouget and at Gros Frère et Sœur. Within a few vintages, Burgundy diehards were chasing his allocations. Today, Noëllat is one of the most hunted names in Vosne-Romanée, and production stays small enough that bottles rarely sit on a shelf for long. Les Beaux Monts is one of Vosne's flagship 1er Crus, sitting right against the Echézeaux border, and 2017 delivered a balanced, fragrant, terroir-driven vintage in the Côte de Nuits. This is a chance to drink one of the great cult Vosne reds at its most expressive.

Returns & Exchanges

We stand behind every bottle we sell.

  • If the wine is less than 10 years old and it is corked, you may return it to us for a full refund or exchange within 60 days of purchase. You must show us proof of purchase. We understand that you may not live near a shop and that it is difficult to ship open bottles of wine to us, so if there's any problem feel free to Contact Us and we'll work it out.
  • For wines older than 10 years, the consumer bears the risk of a faulty cork, but we accept returns of older bottles if the wine is faulty as a result of improper storage. Please come by the store or Contact Us if there is a problem.
  • We may, at our discretion and to the extent permitted by law, accept returns of unopened wines within 30 days of purchase if they were properly stored by the purchaser, subject to a 15% re-stocking fee.

"A high-toned if reserved and cool nose blends notes of pomegranate, red cherry and plenty of spice and floral influences that include orange pekoe tea, anise, sandalwood and a whiff of oak. The sleek, intense and delineated medium weight flavors are borderline pungently mineral-driven, all wrapped in a balanced and beautifully persistent finish. This is a seriously lovely effort that is a classic VRBM."

"The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Les Beaux Monts 1er Cru has a tightly wound bouquet of dark cherries mixed with raspberry and rose petals. It becomes a little candied with aeration and lacks the complexity of d'Eugénie's Aux Brûlées. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berry fruit and good depth, but maybe just a tad over-extracted toward the oaky finish. Give it two or three more years in bottle. "Aromas of cassis, blackberry, orange rind, grilled game and creamy new oak introduce the 2017 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaux Monts, a medium to full-bodied, ample wine with a fleshy core of nicely concentrated dark, sappy fruit, chewy structuring tannins and an expansive finish. Like all of Cheurlin's wines in the last two or three years, this is considerably less advanced than his early vintages were at the same stage, making it harder to assess, so it will be more than usually interesting to revisit from bottle." —William Kelley

More about Domaine Georges Noellat

Maxime Cheurlin's large family have been vineyard owners in Vosne Romanee for many generations. Over the years they sold off vineyards that constitute a great part of Domaine Leroy, Hudelot-Noellat and JJ Confuron. For twenty years his grandmother sold all of their grapes to Louis Jadot and Joseph Drouhin. In 2010 Maxime regained control of the 5.5 hectare Georges Noellat domaine and has been making elegant and transparent wines from these fantastic vineyards.
