"The 2016 Voie d’Oger emerges from the lieu-dit of the same name in Avize. It's fascinating to taste this next to the Monts Ferrés, which is from Vertus. The Voie d’Oger offers notable tension and cut in its first impression. That theme continues as layers of clean chalky notes drive through a core of citrus and white orchard fruit. The 2016 is broad and ample on the palate, especially with aeration. Dosage is 1.2 grams per liter." —Antonio Galloni

"From an east-facing site in Avize, not far from Les Avisés, informed by the late-ripening season, the 2016 Extra-Brut Blanc de Blancs Voie d'Oger, disgorged in June 2024 with 1.6 grams per liter dosage, has turned out very well. Unfurling from the glass with notes of beeswax, lemon zest, fresh hazelnut and dried white flowers, it is medium-bodied and textural yet bright, with a more tightly knit and mineral personality than Monts Ferrés. Laden with racy acidity and with a powerful chalkiness, it concludes with a long, precise finish. It’s the only wine of the estate vinified entirely in steel." —Kristaps Karklins

More about Doyard

The Doyard family has roots in Champagne dating back to the 17th century and starting gaining recognition in the 70's for creating precise, mineral-etched champagnes. The domaine farms 10 ha of vineyards in Vertus and the Grand Cru villages of Le Mesnil, Cramant, Oger, Avize and Ay. The viticultural philosophy employed by the domaine is a ‘non-dogmatic’ approach to biodynamic farming with absolutely no herbicides or pesticides used. Most of the vineyards are worked by horse and yields are kept intentionally kept low, adding to the focused intensity that defines the house style.

In the cellar, all of the wines undergo very long lees aging—a minimum of 48 months, lending a vinous quality to the wines that have become the envy of Vertus. Every single decision made in the vineyard and cellar are geared toward making the most expressive, terroir focused Champagne possible.
