Guffens Heynen Tinus Plateau de l'Aigle Chardonnay 2022 [NET]

$3999

Jean-Marie Guffens has been called by the French press "the greatest Chardonnay winemaker in the world" — a title earned over forty-plus years of pushing the Maconnais to its absolute limits. He arrived from Belgium in 1976, settled in Vergisson, and founded his micro-domaine Guffens-Heynen with first plots in Pierreclos by 1979; he later launched the négociant Verget. In the late 1990s the couple expanded south to Château des Tourettes in the Luberon, where "Tinus," named for Jean-Marie's grandfather, is the single-parcel cuvée from the Plateau de l'Aigle (bottled as Vin de France). Made only from first-press juice, fermented in roughly 25% new oak with extended lees aging, it's a wine of stunning precision — expressive, slightly reductive, mineral-laden, with the suave Burgundian palate weight of a wine that would cost three times as much if it had a Cote d'Or address.
