Haarmeyer Wine Cellars Clements Hills Nebbiolo Potrero 2022

$2899
From the producer: This wine represents our second effort with local Nebbiolo. The vineyard is located in the Clements Hills sub AVA in Lodi and trained just like our regular Nebbiolo from Heringer Estates in nearby Clarksburg. This wine is light, if you can believe that, and is very soft on the palate.

More about Haarmeyer Wine Cellars

For most folks, Sacramento isn't the first place they think of when it comes to wine, especially not terroir driven wines like the ones made by Craig Haarmeyer and his family. A native of the area, Craig envisioned himself making port and other wines from Portuguese varieties that were growing all around him. So in 2008 he started sourcing fruit from a vineyard farmed by Ron Silva in the little town of Galt, California.

He was so impressed with the quality of the Iberian varieties that Ron was farming and quickly became focused on exposing what he coined “Sacramento Terroir.” Craig is devoted to low tech winemaking adding and subtracting nothing from what nature gives him except for a bit of sulfur. He is reliant on his enormous talents and experience and I really think is making some of California's most exciting wines.

Haarmeyer is a family affair and his son Alex now works side by side and will likely take over when Craig retires.
