Antonio Galloni

"Another highlight in this range, the NV (2012) Extra-Brut Ambonnay Le Bout du Clos is powerful and ample, with striking tension and exceptional balance. The blend of mostly Pinot Noir and about 20% Chardonnay in this parcel yields a Champagne of real pedigree and class. Wild flowers, chalk, mint and sweet red berry are some of the many notes that build into a crescendo of aromas, flavors and textures. Quite simply, the Ambonnay is fabulous, but it also needs time, as it is the most reticent of the Pinot-based Champagnes here." —Vinous

"Based on the 2015 vintage, the NV Extra-Brut Grand Cru Le Bout du Clos is showing brilliantly, delivering aromas of peach, citrus oil, honeycomb, crisp orchard fruit, white flowers and drawn butter. Medium to full-bodied, broad and textural, it's a layered, elegantly muscular wine that concludes with a long, saline finish. More clay in the soil means that this is invariably one of the more powerful wines in the range."

More about Jacques Selosse

Standing at the heart of Champagne’s most recent renaissance—a celebration of micro-terroir, viticulture and cellar technique—is Anselme Selosse. Anselme’s trailblazing explorations in technique and terroir and his iconoclastic stances against all trends of dogma and standardization in the vineyards and in the cellar have energized an entire generation of growers.

The profound influence of Selosse's vision is worthy of reverence, but equally impressive are the remarkable Champagnes that give his philosophy life.
