La Sirene de Giscours Margaux 2015

$5499

The second wine of Château Giscours — the Margaux Third Growth — in one of Bordeaux's great recent vintages. La Sirène draws on the estate's younger vines and lighter parcels, then is raised with the same hand as the grand vin: long maceration, fifteen months in French barrel. The 2015 vintage delivered exceptional ripeness across Margaux, and La Sirène is a clear beneficiary, offering dark cherry, cedar, and graphite over a medium-bodied, silky frame. A decade on, the tannins are smoothed and the wine is drinking beautifully now, with room to develop further.

Antonio Galloni

91 points

"The 2015 La Sirene de Giscours is terrific. Deep and pliant in the glass, the 2015 offers superb intensity at this level. Crushed flowers, savory herbs, menthol, licorice and plums infuse this deep, pliant wine. This gorgeous second wine from Giscours is long on both texture and depth." —Antonio Galloni

Robert Parker

91 points

"The 2015 La Sirene de Giscours is a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. It has a crisp, quite pure black cherry, raspberry coulis and cedar-scented bouquet that gently unfolds in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with good depth for a deuxième vin, the 30% new oak nicely integrated with good depth and grip on the graphite and spice-tinged finish. This is worth seeking out - the best La Sirène de Giscours to date, but those with a wise head will give it 2-3 years in bottle." —Neal Martin
