Michelini i Mufatto Propositos Chenin Blanc 2019

From the producer: This low alcohol, 100% hand harvested Chenin Blanc is from the Finca Vila Seca vineyard inside of Tunuyan, Uco Valley. The nose shows notes of lemon, lime, nettle, chamomile, orange peel, and white pepper. The palate is well balanced with bright lemon juice acidity combined with a little weight from some skin contact and a touch of Himalayan pink sea salt on the finish.

Returns & Exchanges

We stand behind every bottle we sell.

  • If the wine is less than 10 years old and it is corked, you may return it to us for a full refund or exchange within 60 days of purchase. You must show us proof of purchase. We understand that you may not live near a shop and that it is difficult to ship open bottles of wine to us, so if there's any problem feel free to Contact Us and we'll work it out.
  • For wines older than 10 years, the consumer bears the risk of a faulty cork, but we accept returns of older bottles if the wine is faulty as a result of improper storage. Please come by the store or Contact Us if there is a problem.
  • We may, at our discretion and to the extent permitted by law, accept returns of unopened wines within 30 days of purchase if they were properly stored by the purchaser, subject to a 15% re-stocking fee.

"The Chenin Blanc 2019 Propósitos comes from Parral in Villa Seca in Tunuyán (bordering Tupungato), a variety the locals call the Pinot from the Loire, from a vineyard planted in 1970. It comes from a very balanced year when the wine finished with 12.2% alcohol, a pH of 3.2 and almost seven grams of acidity. It's austere, serious and varietal, with great balance and purity and a captivating nose of yellow flowers and faint smoke and spice. The grapes have to be picked before botrytis develops, so it's always low in alcohol, but the wine has full development of aromas and flavors. It's reductive, with notes of gunpowder and silex, quite distinct. 1,00 bottles were filled in June 2021. Best After 2022." —Robert Parker

More about Michelini i Mufatto

Michelini i Muffatti is a tiny family winery consisting of a mother, father and their baby. They make wines that emphasize freshness, energy and purity, almost exactly the opposite of what comes to mind when we think of Argentinian wine.

They use a number of different grape varieties that suit their style, and also the high altitude, mineral-rich soils of the Valle de Uco in the foothills of the Andes. Some vines are very old, and they experiment with techniques that are weirdly now considered both cutting edge and pre-industrial, like the use of amphorae.
