Comtes de Champagne is Taittinger's flagship, and it only gets made in vintages the house actually believes in. It is 100% Chardonnay from grand cru villages of the Cote des Blancs, Avize and Cramant and Chouilly and Oger and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, and only the first press makes the cut. It then sits for close to a decade in the chalk cellars under Reims, quarried by the Gallo-Romans and later put to use by the monks of the Saint-Nicaise abbey. What comes out is Champagne with real tension, chalky and saline and precise, and built to keep going for decades. Drink one now with something worth cooking, and put another away.

Returns & Exchanges

We stand behind every bottle we sell.

If the wine is less than 10 years old and it is corked, you may return it to us for a full refund or exchange within 60 days of purchase. You must show us proof of purchase. We understand that you may not live near a shop and that it is difficult to ship open bottles of wine to us, so if there's any problem feel free to Contact Us and we'll work it out.
For wines older than 10 years, the consumer bears the risk of a faulty cork, but we accept returns of older bottles if the wine is faulty as a result of improper storage. Please come by the store or Contact Us if there is a problem.
We may, at our discretion and to the extent permitted by law, accept returns of unopened wines within 30 days of purchase if they were properly stored by the purchaser, subject to a 15% re-stocking fee.

Readers will find a Comtes that plays in the realm of tension and energy. Citrus confit, white flowers, chalk, mint and chamomile are all finely sketched. Light tropical overtones grace the finish. "Occupying a stylistic middle ground between the incisiveness of the 2013 and the fleshier textures of the 2012, Taittinger’s 2014 Blanc de Blancs Comtes de Champagne—disgorged in July 2024 with a dosage of nine grams per liter—has turned out beautifully. It offers aromas of orange peel, peach, pear and brioche mingled with hazelnut and burnt buttered toast. On the palate, it is full-bodied, ample and textural, with a layered yet crisp core of fruit, considerable tension and a long, chalky finish. "Lusciously creamy nose. Tiny, dense bead and still quite a bit of tension and marked acidity on the palate. There's no hurry at allt to drink this! Strong lemon notes on the end. Very densely wound.
