Veuve Fourny & Fils Champagne Brut Rose 1er Cru NV

$6499
From the producer: Fruit from stalk-stripped Pinot Noir and picked by hand, this vintage reveals the old-fashioned know-how of Veuve Fourny: manual grape-stomping and long maceration. Blended with hand-harvested Chardonnay, the Pinot reveals its delicate nose: red fruits and black fruits, whereas in the mouth it stays fresh...
To be served before the meal, accompanied by « sweet-savoury » dishes or at the end of a meal served on red berries...

"The estate's NV Brut Rosé offers good up-front intensity, as all these Champagnes do. Dried flowers, herbs, sage and raspberry give the wine aromatic freshness and a touch of savoriness. The Rosé is not quite as harmonious in feel as some of the other wines in the range, but it packs plenty of punch to compensate. Drink this flavorful Rosé at the dinner table. Disgorged: June 2017. Dosage is 6 grams per liter." —Vinous

More about Veuve Fourny & Fils

A family domaine that dates back to the 1850s, Veuve Fourny is located in Vertus. Chalky soils are interspersed with clay and limestone and the domaine benefits from a unique southeastern exposure that allows grapes to ripen more fully. Farming is meticulous, parcels are vinified individually and dosage is kept to a minimum in order to best express terroir. The Fournys almost always blend wines that have gone through malolactic fermentation with wines that have not, and at least a portion is aged in Burgundy barrel, lending lush texture and fresh character to these beautiful Champagnes.
