Casanova di Neri, Brunello di Montalcino “White Label”, 2016
A mainstay in classic Brunello since 1978, the White Label is the flagship wine of this estate and the fruit comes from 7 different parcels throughout the commune of Brunello, and therefor is a great snapshot of the region writ large. This wine balances the estate’s robust, powerful style with the elegance of the Sangiovese Grosso made in a traditional manner.
Le Potazzine, Brunello di Montalcino, 2015
From an excellent and forward vintage, this is a perfect show-stopper Brunello. A highly rated and reviewed estate, Potazzine is known for its ability to capture the fleshy, silky red fruits of Sangiovese and balance them perfectly with saline minerals and earthy, truffle notes that speak to the terroir of Montalcino. 2015 was warm and dry and this makes the house style even more pleasurable and richly textured. Beautiful, seductive and powerful, like an old school Italian sports car.
Podere Scopetone, Brunello di Montalcino, 2016
If you like traditional winemaking and classically styled Brunello, Scopetone is perhaps one of the best values in Montalcino. Elegant, red fruited and full of earthy complexity, this wine really over delivers on quality. While still somewhat under the radar, in the know fans of old-school Sangiovese are starting to take notice.
Pinhook Flatiron Wines and Spirits Single Barrel Rye Whiskey
A great representation of how high young MGP rye can soar. Classic notes of fresh wild herbs, bright citrus fruit, and lightly toasted baking spices like clove and Ceylon cinnamon, but with a backbone of bitter sweet chocolate and snappy oak.
Rampur Double Cask Single Malt Whisky
A really cool and delicious Single malt coming from India. The distillery description is:"Malt Whisky Non-Chill Filtered.,,This beautiful expression is crafted by maturation in handpicked American Bourbon barrels & European Oak sherry casks.,,Delicate balsamic vanilla notes from the American white oak compliment the full-bodied aroma; Rich caramel, dried dark fruits and spicy tonality from European oak add to the depth."
We couldn’t help but include this impressive small-batch Mezcal to pair with carnitas tacos or any meat coming off the grill. Notes of cooked agave, white pepper, caramelized pineapple and clay with a lingering finish.
