Localisation :
This name derives from the word "CHAILLE" which means small stones.
This "climat" in the southern part of Nuits is planted on an alluvial cone, which indicates a large presence of stones. The soil is clayey, poor in limestone and contains "chailles", a kind of reddish flint, rich in silica.
This very special type of soil has encouraged us to make a separate cuvée which characterizes by an abundant minerality, a very pure fruit expression, a quite strong acidity and a powerful body, which give it good aging qualities.

We stand behind every bottle we sell.

If the wine is less than 10 years old and it is corked, you may return it to us for a full refund or exchange within 60 days of purchase. You must show us proof of purchase. We understand that you may not live near a shop and that it is difficult to ship open bottles of wine to us, so if there's any problem feel free to Contact Us and we'll work it out.
For wines older than 10 years, the consumer bears the risk of a faulty cork, but we accept returns of older bottles if the wine is faulty as a result of improper storage. Please come by the store or Contact Us if there is a problem.
We may, at our discretion and to the extent permitted by law, accept returns of unopened wines within 30 days of purchase if they were properly stored by the purchaser, subject to a 15% re-stocking fee.

"The 2022 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Chaliots comes from a single plot below Les Poirets. It opens with crushed strawberry and cranberry fruit, dried violets and touches of incense. It just needs a little more delineation. The medium-bodied palate is fresh and tensile with fine tannins, a keen line of acidity, and a nuanced, persistent finish that reminds me of Mugneret-Gibourg. This is a lovely Nuits Saint-Georges, elegant without shortchanging you on fruit." —Vinous

More about Domaine Michel Gros

The term "dynasty" is often used when discussing the Gros Family because of the enormous impact they've had on the recent history of winemaking in Burgundy. The Domaine Gros dates to the early 1800's, but after Jean Gros retired in the early 1990's it was split into 4 estates.

Jean's son Michel inherited the entirety of the Monopole 1er Cru vineyard "Clos Reas" and a few other parcels and has been steadily acquiring other vineyards. Today he farms around 18 hectares in Vosne-Romanée and the surrounding villages.

Michel is both an innovator and a sharp student of tradition. He isn't afraid to experiment a little in the cellar but his focus is always on producing wines of terroir and history. His style emphasizes rich fruit and elegance in balance with the power and longevity of Vosne and Nuits-St-Georges.

With 40 years of experience under his belt now Michel Gros has an excellent grasp of how to best transfer his terroir into the glass.
