The Merlot grape is one of the world's greatest wine grapes. It's the main grape of Bordeaux' Pomerol and Saint Émilion wines, a key component of most other Bordeaux wines, and an international superstar from Napa to Australia.
Merlot wines generally have flavors of dark berries, plums or cherries and can have notes of herbs and graphite or other minerals, as well spices -- especially if the wine is aged in oak.
